Each year since 2003, the Saint Timothy's Lakota Ministry has sent an adult team for a week to the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota to serve the Lakota people by listening to them, responding to their needs with work projects and reaching out to the Lakota children to foster hope and trust.

This year again, in May, we sent a team of eight to Pine Ridge. Their main project was to continue work on the Guild Hall at the Makasan Presbyterian Church for which last year's team helped lay the foundation. It was good to see the project nearing completion. The team did finishing work on the interior, some exterior ground work for a possible extension to the hall and electrical circuitry of the hall, resolving some perplexing preexisting faults. The team also assisted the former priest of the local Episcopal Church in building picnic tables. The team renewed old friendships with the reservation residents and interacted each afternoon with the children.

Thanks to the generous contributions of St. Timothy's, directly supporting this ministry through Agape donations, participating in our fund raisers selling native Lakota crafts, and corporate donations, we are able to hold down the cost to individual team members without having to use any of St Timothy's general operational budget.

Our Lakota ministry is always looking for more adults who are interested in learning more about the Lakota people and helping make even a small effort that impacts the lives and outlook of those on the Pine Ridge Reservation
